APPRAISERS

Loose Gems – Diamonds graded strictly to Gemological Institute of America (G.I.A.) standards for Colorless to Fancy Colored Diamonds.  Testing of Color Origin of Colored Diamonds is not done by Guild Labs, but can be sent out to G.I.A. prior to appraisal.

Precious Stones – all species and varieties including Jades, Opals, Ornamental Stones and Man-made Stones

Mineral Specimens as Decorative Art – all species and varieties

Jewelry – Modern Jewelry and Period Jewelry including Retro, Art Deco, Art Nouveau, Edwardian, Early, Mid and Late Victorian, Georgian and earlier western periods.  Also Designer Jewelry, Watches, Ethnic Jewelry and High-End Costume Jewelry.

Coins & Currency – U.S. and foreign 18th  through 21st  century coins and currency. Limited experience in ancient coins and ephemera.

CONSULTATION

Billed hourly with or without documentation, review of other appraisals, business practices consultation and personal purchase and resale consultation. Lotting for auction.

LITIGATION SUPPORT

Consultant with experience of over 20 years in insurance, business litigation, tax (probate/casualty loss/donations), divorce, intellectual property, bankruptcy and other types of cases. 

EXPERT WITNESS

Extensive experience in civil (plaintiffs and respondents) and criminal (prosecution and defense) matters, qualified in Federal, State, Tax and Bankruptcy Courts.

GEMSTONE IDENTIFICATION

98% of gemstones and their treatments are identifiable at Guild Laboratories. In the rare case where a stone is not immediately identifiable, it can be sent out for advanced testing. Documents incorporate wording used by the Laboratory Manual Harmonisation Committee (LMHC).

DIAMOND GRADING

Strictly to G.I.A. standards, and nothing less. You should expect Diamonds graded at Guild Laboratories to be the same as if graded at the G.I.A. Gem Trade Laboratory.

EXPERIENCE

Since 1980, Guild Laboratories has been identifying, grading and appraising all types of Diamonds and other Gemstones, Jewelry, Coins and Currency on a full-time basis. Nothing counts like experience.

Our strict Code of Ethics requires that all information for every client is held in absolute confidence.

Situated on the 11th floor of one of the most secure buildings in the western U.S. with 24-hour guards, the office has state-of-the-art security, a top-rated safe and flexible insurance coverage for any and all valuables stored on the premises, or in the Bank of America vault downstairs.

Located in the downtown Los Angeles jewelry district on the northeast corner of 6th & Hill Sts., Guild Labs is freeway close to all of southern California.
